People with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) experience disasters differently because preparedness, warnings, evacuations and recovery systems are usually designed around binary gender norms, household structures, and assumptions that do not reflect their lives or relationships.

This is a practical toolkit is designed to support the safe and meaningful inclusion of people with diverse SOGIESC in Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM).

Developed under the Disaster READY program by Rainbow Pride Foundation Fiji, this handbook serves as a comprehensive guide aimed at fostering understanding and inclusion of individuals based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) within the humanitarian sector.
